Sort access and storage first
Deliveries, skips and material storage all need somewhere to go. Agreeing where they sit before the first delivery prevents most of the friction between a live site and a household still using the property.
Make the slow decisions early
Kitchens, glazing, tiles, sanitaryware and staircases carry lead times measured in weeks. Choosing them before groundworks start is the single most effective thing a client can do to protect the programme.
Plan around the disruption
Expect a period without the kitchen or a bathroom on most whole-house work. Agreeing in advance when that falls, and what temporary arrangements are in place, keeps it manageable.
Agree how you will be kept informed
A short weekly update covering progress, what happens next and any decisions needed is usually enough. Knowing when you will hear from us stops the project feeling opaque.
